RESEARCH
The Tiny But Mighty Baby Foundation seeks to fund research that is primarily focused on improving the lives of people with growth restriction. We welcome proposals for research in any area of investigation, including public health, clinical, translational, or basic science investigations, quality improvement, and education.

Grant proposal submissions will be accepted starting May 15, 2026, through July 31, 2026. Submissions can be emailed to: director@tinybutmightyfoundation.com. Submissions must meet the following guidelines:

Submission:
1. Research must be conducted within the United States and its territories.
2. Applicants must have an academic affiliation.
3. Submission must include:
-Specific aims page
-Maximum 6 page detailed proposal
-Maximum 3 page detailed budget proposal
-Maximum 2 page personnel and environment qualifications
4. Additionally, a one paragraph summary of the proposed research written for the general public must be included in the submission.
5. The proposed research must be completed within 2 years of receiving funding.
Evaluation:
1. Research will be evaluated according to National Institute of Health (NIH) criteria (significance, innovation, approach, investigator, and environment) and pertinence to the foundation’s mission.
2. A minimum of one reviewer specifically qualified in the area of proposed research and external to the board of directors will review the grant proposal per NIH criteria.
3. Final decision on funding will be made by the board of directors with input from external and internal reviewers.
4. Notification of award will be no later than November 30, 2026.
5. Contract between the investigator's institution and the TBMB Foundation will be provided for signature upon notification of award.
6. Completed signature page will be required upon notification of award.
Award:
1. Funding start date: January 1, 2027.
2. Maximum of a non-renewable $50,000 award.
3. Maximum of 10% indirect costs allowed.
4. Research must be approved by the appropriate agency before funding will be given (IACUC, IRB, etc.).
5. After funding, a 1-year, and if necessary, 2-year progress report must be submitted to the board for review, along with a 1-3 paragraph summary of the research accomplishments written for the general public.
6. A photograph of the recipient principal investigator or investigative team will be posted to the website alongside the proposed research and subsequently, research accomplishments.
